I’ve spent most of Día de los Reyes Magos assembling a new desk and configuring my new workspace to find my Drobo unit has a vibration that’s now amplified to a low hum.

The vibration is barely noticeable now and the hum is easily drowned out by typing and music. Looks like the Desk Cable Management Guide has advice for how to tidy up the rat’s nest I’ve made.

  • Installed Yarns microsub server and coupled with Indigenous as a reader/microsub client I can now respond to blog posts in a more social/IndieWeb kinda way.

  • Looking into PressForward as a replacement for Feedly based off Chris Aldrich’s write-up of the WordPress plugin. Being able to read and respond to blog posts in the same app is appealing and might even help me keep on top of my ‘Read Later’ list.

  • My Last.fm last.year listening report has confirmed what I’ve long suspected. Through our shared smart speaker @tesshumphrys has infiltrated my listening habits with @BlossomsBand being my most played artist of 2020.

  • On the topic of gardening, I’ve been spending the holiday period pruning duplicated and redundant files dispersed across various storage platforms and devices: NAS, DAS, external USB drives, and cloud services. I’m confident it’s all backed up following the 3-2-1 strategy.

  • I’ve decided. My website is in need of an overhaul. I like the concept of cultivating a digital garden whilst also combining some of the social aspects of the IndieWeb, so in the New Year I’ll don my gloves, a trowel and see how I get on!
